With Spring almost upon us, it maybe time to stop, stand still and take stock of your life and consider where you are going? Perhaps you have reached a crossroads in your life, or maybe facing a major change, such as redundancy or demotion. In today’ current economic climate, budgets are being slashed in large organisations, such as the NHS/Government departments, who, at one time, could be relied upon to provide a ‘job for life’.
If you are facing such a challenge then don’t panic! This could be an opportunity to do something you always wished you could do but did not have the time to pursue or the money to fund it. It is also an opportunity to tap into your true potential to find out what you are really capable of.
Several of my clients have often said that losing their job was the best thing that could have happened to them, because it made them stand up and take responsibility for themselves. Some people hate change, and often a comfort zone, can make them delusional, because they choose to believe that one day things will get better. Also, when a person is in a situation that is becoming intolerable, they are scared to do anything about it because of the fear of the unknown. Could this be you, right now? If so, there is help out there, if you feel you need some support and talking to someone about your concerns would certainly help lighten the burden. So, what are you waiting for?
If you are still unsure as to what to do, then start to have faith, that you have within you, the power to change your life for the better. As Dr David Emery stated, “there is a bright spark within each and every one of us”. So, look inside yourself and consider how you can ignite the spark within.

If you are still thinking about what goals to start working towards in 2011 then let me give you some help? First of all, whatever it is you wish to achieve, rather than feel overwhelmed by the prospect of how you are going to achieve it, sit down and get yourself into a relaxed state – BREATH – calm yourself and then make yourself a cuppa and grab your notepad and pen.
Once you are comfortably esconsed in your armchair try and visualise what it is you really want, or where you wish to see yourself, and really focus on it, be creative! Then, start your mind map. Write down any thoughts pertaining to your goal, that come into your head, hopes, wishes, obstacles or stumbling blocks that may get in the way, milestones? How will you know when you are are on your way to achieving your goal; results, outcomes? How will you reward yourself when you have achieved the goal, will the achievement be the reward itself?
Once you have worked on your mind map, it is then time to start charting a map to your success. Make sure your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time framed). Then start planning each step of the way, and be patient with yourself. Ideally, your timescale needs to be very realistic, so that you feel comfortable in being able to achieve the goal.
In order to ensure you reach your goal, try writing a letter to yourself stipulating that by the date of which you have estimated you will be enjoying your goal, living the life you have envisioned for yourself and your partner/family and then each day take time out to visualise your experience. This helps bring the goal into manifestation. Once again, if any stumbling blocks occur, then perhaps finding someone to help you overcome them is the answer? I wish you much success and if you need any further help from me, then give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you.

The dawning of a new year, can create mixed feelings for some people. However, I always see it as a wonderful opportunity to consider how far you have come, what goals you wish to create and how you anticipate achieving them.
Wanting something, can only lead to frustration, because when you yearn for something to happen or for something to change, unless you take some action, you only end up ‘wanting’ and ‘yearning’. Therefore, if you want manifest the changes you desire then you need to decide what your first step is going to be?
Some stumbling blocks to change are:-
- Lack of vision – not knowing exactly what you want or how you are going to get it
- Fear – of who else the changes may affect
- Procrastination – whilever you sit on your laurels and do nothing about achieiving your goals then frustration will set in.
- Lack of self belief – or lack of confidence. Thinking about doing something but choosing to do nothing about it only leads to low self esteem. You can do whatever you set your mind to do, if you really want to have it!
So, when are you going to make the decision to stop ‘wanting’ and to start taking some action to achieving your goals? I look forward to receiving your feedback…….

If losing weight and getting fitter is one of your goals for 2011, then read on to find out what could help you overcome the ‘Winter Blues’…….
Yoga and meditation can help tremendously, when you feel stressed out or may be reaching ‘burn-out’. If you are working too many hours, feel burdened by personal responsibilities or find yourself in a situation you feel is impossible to get out of. Joining a yoga or tai chi class may be the answer, in helping you to unwind and relax. Either one of these exercise classes have also proven to be beneficial for people suffering with Arthritis or Fibromyalgia.
Also, participating in some form of regular physical activity will certainly help to make you feel better, improve your body shape, maintain a healthy weight and get a good night’s sleep.
Too often, people use the excuse of ‘lack of time’ for choosing not to exercise. Yet, would you not agree, that exercising regularly is imperative for overall improved health and wellbeing?
It is so easy to find yourself in a perpetual negative cycle of limiting behaviour, when you allow work to take over your life. Sometimes people bury themselves in work as a way of escapism – what do I mean by this? Well, if you are too scared to face up to any emotional problems or physical ailments that won’t go away e.g. regular headaches, colds, or muscular aches and pains, then it will be inevitable that one day, your body may choose to give up altogether. This is called a ‘breakdown’, but I am sure you have no intention of allowing it to get that far. You may not have any say in the matter! So, where can you start and what can you do to enhance health and wellbeing? First of all, try not to raise your expectations too high. If choosing not to exercise means, you feel you have to join a gym or start exercising like mad, then you have already set yourself up for failure. Instead, consider some of the following physical activities that could be fun and a good start in getting you on the road to improved fitness:-
- Aerobics (aqua or exercise to music)
- Badminton
- Cycling
- Dance e.g. salsa, line dancing, belly dancing, disco, street-dance
- Fitness classes
- Football
- Hockey
- Racketball
- Squash
- Swimming
- Tai Chi
- Tennis
- Walking
- Wii Fit Plus
- Yoga
If the thought of not having anyone to exercise with puts you off, then call a friend, or get a buddy on board. You may even consider hiring a personal fitness trainer? http://www.jsrcorefitness.co.uk. Whatever you choose to do, once you take the plunge, you will not look back. Remember, if you want to improve health and well being, then 30 minutes physical activity on 5 days a week, is the government recommendation for improved health, in adults. For kids, it’s one hour’s physical activity on 7 days a week.
Good luck in your journey to improved health and wellness.
