So many people start to plan goals but soon fall flat, because they lose the focus on them, is this you? If I had a pound for every person who said to me, when they chose to enter into the coaching arena, “I feel my business needs a boost and I have lots of ideas on how to boost it, but I just feel too overwhelmed, I don’t know where to start?”

What I ask them to consider first of all, is “how do you really want to develop your business”? ”Where do you see your business in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months or 18 months”? ”How you can prioritize your action steps?” What is important to remember when goal planning, is to breakdown your goals into small achievable steps rather than feeling you have to tackle all your actions in one go! In doing this, your goal plan will not seem such a huge mountain to climb. It is also imperative that you use the 80/20 pareto principle – which is 20% activities bring about 80% results. In order to achieve this, simply set aside 90 minutes each day, yes, I did say 90 minutes each day to focus on your business goals. That way you will feel much more in control and less overwhelmed.

Next, you have to start visualizing your success, every single day. Remember, thoughts create things, and as you think you create. This will enable you to create new opportunities which will open new doors. So in following this advise, don’t be surprised if the phone starts ringing, or you start meeting people who can help you get to where you want to be?! GET EXCITED!

Good luck, and if you need any support, then why not contact me to find out how I could help you achieve your goals?

With Spring now upon us, it maybe time to stop, stand still and take stock of your life and consider where you are going? Perhaps you have reached a crossroads in your life, or maybe facing a major change, such as redundancy or demotion. In today’ current economic climate, budgets are being slashed in large organisations, such as the NHS/Government departments, who, at one time, could be relied upon to provide a ‘job for life’.

If you are facing such a challenge then don’t panic! This could be an opportunity to do something you always wished you could do but did not have the time to pursue or the money to fund it. It is also an opportunity to tap into your true potential to find out what you are really capable of.

Several of my clients have often said that losing their job was the best thing that could have happened to them, because it made them stand up and take responsibility for themselves. Some people hate change, and often a comfort zone, can make them delusional, because they choose to believe that one day things will get better. Also, when a person is in a situation that is becoming intolerable, they are scared to do anything about it because of the fear of the unknown. Could this be you, right now? If so, there is help out there, if you feel you need some support and talking to someone about your concerns would certainly help lighten the burden. So, what are you waiting for?

If you are still unsure as to what to do, then start to have faith, that you have within you, the power to change your life for the better. As Dr David Emery stated, “there is a bright spark within each and every one of us”. So, look inside yourself and consider how you can ignite the spark within.

If you are still thinking about what goals to start working towards in 2012 then let me give you some help? First of all, whatever it is you wish to achieve, rather than feel overwhelmed by the prospect of how you are going to achieve it, sit down and get yourself into a relaxed state – BREATH – calm yourself and then make yourself a cuppa and grab your notepad and pen.

Once you are comfortably esconsed in your armchair try and visualise what it is you really want, or where you wish to see yourself, and really focus on it, be creative! Then, start your mind map. Write down any thoughts pertaining to your goal, that come into your head, hopes, wishes, obstacles or stumbling blocks that may get in the way, milestones? How will you know when you are are on your way to achieving your goal; results, outcomes? How will you reward yourself when you have achieved the goal, will the achievement be the reward itself?

Once you have worked on your mind map, it is then time to start charting a map to your success. Make sure your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time framed). Then start planning each step of the way, and be patient with yourself. Ideally, your timescale needs to be very realistic, so that you feel comfortable in being able to achieve the goal.

In order to ensure you reach your goal, try writing a letter to yourself stipulating that by the date of which you have estimated you will be enjoying your goal, living the life you have envisioned for yourself and your partner/family and then each day take time out to visualise your experience. This helps bring the goal into manifestation. Once again, if any stumbling blocks occur, then perhaps finding someone to help you overcome them is the answer? I wish you much success and if you need any further help from me, then give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you.
